I'm 16 years old and I'm a Senior at Agoura High. I've been painting since kindergarten. Art runs in my family going all the way back to my great, great, great, grandma. I am from Moscow originally, which is where I was inspired to begin painting. I moved to the US at the beginning of 5th grade. My art journey has gone from being self taught, to private teachers, to schools, to academies. I've painted with every media and many of the mediums. I've painted everything from still life, to portraits, to self portraits, to scenery, to political art which is my current focus. I love to paint and I'm hoping to major as an artist at a UC school.
My name is Jenna Lowe and I am a high school junior attending AHS. I am privileged to volunteer at "Ballet For All Kids", a dance therapy studio right here in Agoura Hills.
The purpose of the studio is to use the Schlachte method through dance, as a way to make physiotherapy fun and entertaining for children who are physically and/or mentally challenged, as well as bringing them into a fun environment to interact socially.
I have been volunteering there for over a year now and have had some amazing experiences with the students and feel I have received every bit as much as I have given.
I decided I really wanted to give more than just my time, and since I am a budding artist and have had some success with a showcase in a downtown LA gallery, I am auctioning some of my original paintings, particularly those that highlight social or political inequality and injustice or human strife and will donate the proceeds to Ballet For All Kids as they could really use additional funding for their extensive and worthy programs and equipment needs.
I also planning on starting a club at Agoura High to attract volunteers to BFAK and educate kids about special needs children. Personally, the interaction with them benefited me in a huge way and I believe that it'll do the same for others. Seeing the kids happy, and the teens educated is a win situation.
In the summer of 2017, I attended the student Leadership Program at the Ronald Regan Library, where we created a plan to improve our community. My plan is to get the special needs children involved more in our society and have them become a bigger part of general ed.
In order to bring this idea to life I'm looking for any gallery or open wall to display this art. I'm hoping to bring awareness to the special needs community through showing my art. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
The Teen Center in Thousand Oaks has very kindly provided a display wall for some of my original art work in the hope that any pieces that sell, 100% of the proceeds go to BFAK.

Pat has a BA from UCLA, during which time she studied with Jan Stussy, John Baldessari and Chris Burden. She has also taken private lessons from Sergei Bongart and studio classes with Peter Liashkov. In addition, she spent 20 years as a commercial artist doing movie posters, book covers, magazine and fashion illustration. She has worked on murals with Judy Baca and installations with Liza Lou.
The following series of paintings are examples of some of my earlier work and show the beginning of my formal training with the talented Elena Avanesova at the Art Studio Agoura. The majority of the work is in acrylics but a few are pastels. Being only a 5th grader at the time, these pieces were a way to explore, experiment and learn technique.
My original piece "Muslim Woman" was displayed at the prestigious Hive Gallery in downtown Los Angeles.
